Guide to getting a key
Step1:- First Open Google Maps Platform and click Get Started button right corner of the site. Now you can see the popup box Enable Google Maps Platform Check the all boxes Maps, Routes and Places and click continue.
Step2:- When you are creating API key first time then you will create project first
- Select a Project
- Click the Next button
Step3:- Now you can see the popup in your screen Enable billing for project “My Project” Now setup your billing and click ‘CREATE BILLING ACCOUNT’ , *This is must for First Time Users.
Step4:- Now enter a name for you Billing Account, as well as your Organization name and click continue . Here I am entering My company name for Eg.
Step5:- Now Select your country from drop down box and click confirm
Step6:- Enter the customer info and card information click submit enable billing
Note:-
You will receive 28,000 map requests every month and 40,000 direction calls every month, free of cost . But when you will usage exceeds your monthly $200 credit limit you pay the charges . Once your billing has been set up, you can move onto creating your API Key.
Step7:- After that fill the billing information now you can create API Credentials. Now you can see the API Manager menu in the right sidebar click the Credentials option to create API Credentials
Press on the Create Credentials button
Step8:- Press on the API Key on the next pup-up box and you will get the API code
- Get the generated API key to your clipboard.
For Safety reason press on the Restrict key button for making your keys restricted.
Step9:- After the Restrict key now you want to enable the required API functions for your project.
- Press the Library link in the API Manager Sidebar menu.
- Press the Google Maps JavaScript API panel.
If the JavaScript API not enabled then click Enable on the Google Maps JavaScript API
Most Of the time Google not active all the request API in this time you can manually enable these API. These are the following list of the entire API that needs to enable with your JavaScript API
- Street View Image API
- Places API Web Service
- Google Maps Geo-coding API
- Directions API
- Maps Distance Matrix API
- Maps Geo location API
