In this blog, we explain how to install Laravel. Before we go further, we need to check that our server meets the following requirements:
We are installing Lavavel 5.2.31.
Step 1: Laravel uses composer to handle the dependencies. So, first let us download the composer.
Step 2: To verify composer is installed properly, open command prompt or terminal and type: composer, this will show composer’s version number and composer’s command list, if installed properly.
Step 3: Now, navigate to “htdocs” (in case of XAMPP) or “www” (in case of WAMP) folder.
>cd xampp/htdocs ( For XAMPP )
>cd wamp/www ( For WAMP )
Step 4: Now, to create a new Laravel project, type:
>composer create-project –prefer-dist laravel/laravel project-name
This will download the Laravel and it’s all dependencies and create directory “project-name”, which contains Laravel project files.
Step 5: After successfully installation of Laravel, open browser window and just type localhost/project-name/public, this will show default screen of Laravel.
So easy isn’t it? That’s how the installation is going to end but the main task starts upon starting to code on Laravel since it is not as easy as installing Laravel.
Laravel is an outstanding PHP framework which is very rare since it is a new technology and has its cons and pros. Being so unique in itself, Laravel is way more secure than any other PHP frameworks available.
